Please note that the Jeff Center is currently closed due to Covid-19 restrictions. We hope to welcome you back soon.

Families with young children are welcome at our newly-renovated Jeff Center for Families! Both kids and adults will enjoy making new friends—and seeing old ones—in the positive and enriching environment.

Just steps away from our Oasis Playground, the Jeff Center is a drop-in place to bring your children for fun activities and play dates. Infused with Jewish values, the Center has:

    • Kid-friendly books and games
    • Arts and crafts

The Jeff Center for Families is made possible, in part, by a generous contribution from Merry and Stephen Astor, in memory of their son Jeff (z”l).

OFJCC Palo Alto JCCJeff grew up in Northern California. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, he worked at Goldman Sachs in New York.

Jeff was a natural athlete and participated and excelled in many sports. He loved tennis, baseball, soccer, snow skiing and water-skiing, and had a tremendous amount of confidence and initiative, always challenging himself with new experiences and activities.

He had a great sense of humor and was quite social and popular, known for being an especially kind, caring and fun person to be around. Jeff kept in touch with his friends, was a good listener, problem solver and devoted friend. He was intellectually curious, loved learning about people and encouraging them to talk about themselves.

After spending a semester in college in Israel at the Hebrew University and participating in the Marva army program, Jeff developed a special love for Israel.

When he died in a plane crash on July 22, 1991, Jeff was 24 years old.

Jeff's parents hope that the Jeff Center for Families will be a place of warmth, caring and fun and that the Center will keep Jeff’s memory alive.
