    The Future of Jewish Identity

    When: Tuesday, 3/12/2019 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Where: Arrillaga Family Pavilion (Bldg C) 1st Floor

OFJCC Palo Alto JCC Join us in conversation with Professor Robert Mnookin and Dan Libenson, co-host of the Judaism Unbound podcast, as we explore the past, present and future of American Jewish identity.

Robert Mnookin, professor of law at Harvard (and previously at Stanford and Berkeley) and longtime head of Harvard Law School's famed negotiation program, has just published a book on the future of American Jewish identity. His book, titled The Jewish American Paradox, has made waves by arguing that the traditional definitions of Jewish identity—birth and religious conversion—do not make sense in today's American Jewish landscape. Instead, Mnookin argues that Jewish identity should be self-determined, and that the Jewish community should accept as a Jew anyone who declares themselves a Jew in good faith. Is this the future of American Judaism? Come join us to add your voice to the discussion.
