OFJCC Palo Alto JCC Join entertainer Gilda Solve for a tribute to Ira Gershwin, the most successful craftsman of the American theatre in the era between World Wars I and II, when many of his shows were Broadway hits. This beloved Jewish-American lyricist collaborated with his younger brother, composer George Gershwin, to create some of the most memorable songs in the English language of the 20th century. His mastery of songwriting continued after George's early death in 1937. Ira wrote additional hit songs with composers Jerome Kern, Kurt Weill, Harry Warren and Harold Arlen. Guests are welcome to ask questions via the chat throughout the program.

OFJCC Palo Alto JCCBorn and raised in San Francisco, Gilda Solve began to sing at a very early age. She went on to study classical and modern music, receiving her Bachelor of Arts from the Dominican University of California where she studied singing, piano, composition, dance and theater. She has performed in numerous shows in the US and Europe, including A Chorus Line, Bye Bye Birdie, Pippin, Evita and more. Since 1990, Gilda has been living in France and, for the last 15-years, has been a featured singer, accompanied by a trio. With an engaging stage presence and heartfelt warmth, Gilda brings a diverse array of songs and stories to life!
