OFJCC Palo Alto JCC The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco are thrilled to host "Last Supper in Pompeii: From the Table to the Grave," the first exhibition to focus on the love of food and drink in Pompeii. This exhibition brings us into the world of ancient Rome and this presentation will bring us into the finest homes in Pompeii in 79 A.D., before the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.

We will look at frescos, mosaics, sculptures and decorative objects that adorned these beautiful villas. Included in the presentation are objects that are expected to be on display in the exhibition at the Legion of Honor as well as several objects from its ancient art collection. Please join us as we explore the lives of the rich and famous Romans in the first century, go into their beautiful homes, and see how food and wine played a part in their lives.

OFJCC Palo Alto JCCBeth Beisecker received her bachelor's degree in art history, with honors, from the University of Kansas. After a career in software sales and sales management, she returned to her love of art history. She was the Director of Special Events and a member of the curatorial committee at the Peninsula Museum of Art, a museum and gallery complex promoting Bay Area regional artists. She was a docent for the For-Site Foundation at the "Home Land Security" exhibition at historic Fort Winfield Scott, an exhibition of 18 global artists that asked visitors to consider our barriers and exclusions. Since 2018 she has been a docent for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, where she enjoys touring all of the collections in the museums.

Beth and her husband are retired and love traveling. They are looking forward to more adventures when the situation allows. Beth especially enjoys the docent organization, where she is an active participant on multiple committees

The program is free but requires registration to get the Zoom link.

Senior Programs are made possible in part by generous contributions from the John R. Schwabacher Family, Diane and Jon Claerbout in memory of their beloved son Jos, as well as the Jewish Community Federation & Endowment Fund. We are grateful for the generous support of all of our donors
