Bouquets to Art is one of the de Young museum's most popular annual events. It is a week-long display of floral designs inspired from the works of art in the museum's collection. On view are fabulous interpretations of favorite works of art done in fresh flowers.

Now in its thirty-sixth year, have you ever wondered how Bouquets to Art started and became one of the most popular events at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco? Have you ever marveled at the floral designs and the floral artists who created them, and admired the materials used? This talk will reveal what goes on behind-the-scenes to make this highly successful event happen each year. In addition, the speaker will show you works of art in the museum's collection and how floral artists have interpreted them in their designs. Discover what's in store for 2021's beloved event at the de Young Museum.

OFJCC Palo Alto JCCMaureen Murray Fox received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Davis. She spent more than thirty years working for IBM and held a variety of positions in sales and management, including as Branch Manager of the San Francisco downtown office.

To add balance to her life and as an antidote to computers and sales quotas, Maureen got involved with the San Francisco Auxiliary of the Fine Arts Museums, which organizes the annual Bouquets to Art event. After retiring from IBM, Maureen decided to deepen her connection to the museums and learn more about art by training to be a docent. This talk gives her the opportunity to draw upon her experience with the museums' permanent art collection and artistic expression by floral designers who interpret the artworks in flowers.

Maureen is a native San Franciscan and the mother of two daughters; her grandson is a sixth generation San Franciscan!
