    Frequently Asked Questions:

    What is the Pushcart Library?
Quite simply, the Pushcart Library is a single-subject lending library that is free for everyone to use and was formed as a collaboration between Jewish Learning Works and the Oshman Family JCC. Think of it as a Jewish library on wheels.

Does the Pushcart Library only have books on one subject?
Yes and no. While the Pushcart Library focuses on Judaism, our mission is to educate people about the many aspects of being Jewish and not just religion. In fact, novels are our most popular items and most don’t focus on Judaism. They can simply be written by a Jewish author, or be by a Jewish author writing about the Jewish experience. Yes, we have books on the Jewish religious experience as well, plus histories of the Jewish people, books of political debate on the State of Israel and other relevant Jewish subjects, cookbooks—Kosher and not—and much more, including DVDs of Israeli movies.

Why here at the Oshman Family JCC?
The OFJCC's prime location gives the Pushcart the ability to offer the largest number of people in our area access to the library, but this does not mean we limit access to only OFJCC members. A basic tenet of education requires the sharing of information to everyone, and the goal of Jewish LearningWorks is to educate as many people as possible on the many facets of Judaism.

What do I need to do to use the Pushcart Library?
The Pushcart Library hours at the OFJCC are listed above. On most days the carts will be located in the lobby of the fitness center or just outside the fitness center entrance. The Pushcart Library is free. Through a simple registration process, anyone can check out DVDs, books and children's books. Books circulate for four weeks and DVDs for two weeks. Patrons may return items directly to the Pushcart Library, to the OFJCC's fitness center front desk or to the preschool front desk.
