Why Kids Should Take Out the Trash and Be Thankful

When: Friday, 12/7/2018 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM Export event

    Where: Off Campus

OFJCCPlease join us as we explore how to empower our children to develop a strong sense of self, fulfillment and long-term happiness. Drawing on the inspiration of Wendy Mogel, Julie Lythcott-Haims, Carol Dweck and other thought leaders, we will discuss actionable and thought-provoking parenting ideas that can be relevant from preschool through the tween years. Topics covered include gratitude, chores, community responsibility and growth mindset.

The session will be co-led by esteemed first and second grade teachers at Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School, Donna Seidel and Esther Rubin.

OFJCCDonna Seidel is a 13-year veteran teacher, sponsored participant in the DeLeT program and lifelong learner, having participated in professional development programs at Columbia University's Teachers College and Stanford University.

Esther Rubin is the former director of the OFJCC Preschool. She has been teaching kindergarten and first grade at Hausner for the past 16 years. Esther holds degrees in early childhood education and sociology.

The event is held by Gideon Hausner Jewish Day School in partnership with the OFJCC.

The session is free of charge but does require RSVP as space will be limited to allow for meaningful discussion. Two sessions will be held for scheduling convenience. Please only sign up for one.
