Welcoming a Sweet New Year—a Rosh Hashanah Cabaret

    Community Tuesdays

    When: Tuesday, 9/22/2020 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Where: Albert and Janet Schultz Cultural Arts Hall (Bldg F)

OFJCC Palo Alto JCCEnjoy a Rosh Hashanah cabaret show with Lauren Mayer and Scott Grinthal.

Get into the spirit of the holiday with this program of fun, celebratory songs, including special material for Rosh Hashanah, Jewish songwriters, original songs and more.

Real-life husband and wife duo Scott Grinthal and Lauren Mayer are a refreshing twist on the typical cabaret couple—he's the suave crooner, she's the wise-cracking pianist and singer, and audiences all over the Bay Area have enjoyed their unique shows. They were recently featured on KTVU's Bay Area People; watch the interview here.

Lauren Mayer is a phi beta kappa graduate of Yale University and an accomplished songwriter who has released six albums of original comedy music and eleven albums of educational music for children. She is a five-time recipient of the San Francisco Cabaret Gold Award and has appeared in nightclubs and lounges throughout the Bay Area, Los Angeles and New York, including Feinstein's at the Nikko, The Cirque Room at the Fairmont Hotel, Society Cabaret, The Plush Room, and others.

Lauren has performed her one woman show, Psycho Super Mom, or her duo show with Karen Drucker, From Drips To Divas, at local theatres and synagogues, and she has also performed in numerous nightclubs with her husband, Scott Grinthal, in their 'marital cabaret show, Yes Dear. Lauren also writes and performs weekly topical comedy songs on her YouTube channel, and several of her songs have gone viral, with over three million views and counting.

Despite all of Lauren's achievements and awards, Lauren's mother still doesn't understand why she didn't go to law school.

Daytime Adult Learning and Culture Programs are made possible in part by the John R. Schwabacher Family as well as a grant from the Maimonides Fund at the Jewish Community Federation & Endowment Fund. We are grateful for their generous support.
