Join us this session for some awesome hands-on science FUN! Uncover the mysteries of air, and learn about aerodynamics. Discover gravity and have FUN as we push, pull and get the job done! Have fun with chemistry and learn about solar power.
Topics covered: Nutty Newton, air pressure, food chains, flight, our living planet, bubbles and chemistry
Science Made Fun programs provide an opportunity to expose kids, at an early age, to the amazing world of science and nature, through discovery-style learning and inquiry-based dialogue with a real scientist. In this hands-on science class, students will explore various topics among chemistry, physical, life and Earth sciences. Each week the students will discover a new and engaging scientific concept, which will be accompanied by two or three hands-on experiments which bring the concept to life. Students roll up their sleeves and become REAL scientists!
Session 3 Classes:
Our Living Planet©: Discover the effects of global warming! Have FUN as we explore clean and renewable energy.
Nutty Newton©: Become a mechanic, a Newtonian mechanic that is! Learn all about those incredible forces. Have fun as we experience the laws of physics.
Air with Flair©: Uncover the mysteries of air, if you dare! Learn about air and all its amazing properties.
Up, Up and Away!©: Learn about aerodynamics and what makes things fly. Learn about lift and drag as we make heli spinners and paper airplanes!
Bubble-ology©: Bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles! Learn the science of bubbles!
Chain Gang©: Join the chain gang, the food chain that is. Explore the five laws of nature that apply to the world's ecosystems. Have fun as we learn about predator/prey relationships and dissect real owl pellets.
Lab 101©: Discover the pH scale, and learn all about acids and bases with our special indicator as chemicals magically change color instantly.
About the Instructor:
After working in the biotech industry for almost 14 years, Shalini Wadwani decided to switch to a more fulfilling and meaningful career of teaching science in a fun and entertaining manner to children. Her hope is to inspire them to pursue science in the higher grades.
