Mussar for Men | Facilitated by Greg Marcus
In this day and age, between work stress, demands of family and a stressful national environment, now more than ever, a man needs a place to examine and understand his proper place in the world. And while multi-gendered group dynamics are essential in both the workplace and home life, there is an important place for man-to-man communication.
Mussar is a 1000-year-old Jewish spiritual practice that helps us find those things inside that cause us to be stuck, and offers a step-by-step path to balance through mindful living in everyday life. Bay Area Mussar maven Greg Marcus created Mussar for Men to help you show up as your best self, both at home and at work.
Join us for this highly interactive program of personal growth and authentic conversation. Every two weeks we will focus on a different "soul trait" to help spark an authentic conversation about who we are and how to show up as our best selves. Participants will be asked to read the appropriate chapter from The Spiritual Practice of Good Actions before each meeting.
Greg Marcus has been practicing and facilitating Mussar for seven years. He is a graduate of the Mussar Institute's facilitator training program, Manchim, and is the author of The Spiritual Practice of Good Actions: Finding Balance Through the Soul Traits of Mussar, which is based on a class he created at Congregation Beth Am. Greg worked for ten years as a marketer in Silicon Valley. In 2016 he created a Mussar parenting program to help him cope with two teen daughters. He received a Ph.D. from MIT, and a B.A. in biology from Cornell University.
