    Community Conversations Presents Tu B'Shvat in Israel: World Food Security, Tikkun Olam and Innovation

    OFJCC Palo Alto JCCIn the last few decades, Israel has become a world leader in water recycling and innovation, inventing and developing new methods to grow food in desert conditions. With organizations like the Arava International Center for Agriculture Training and The Arava institute for Environmental Studies, Israel helps third world countries develop modern agriculture and advanced water technology. Hear how nature becomes accessible and celebrate Tu B'Shvat with us.

    Major (res.) Oren Hefetz was drafted to the IDF at the age of 18 and served as a helicopter pilot for more than 20 years, filling various positions in the Israeli Air Force. While deputy commander of Palmachim Air Force Base, Oren adopted a program called Special In Uniform, which helps young Israelis with special needs volunteer and draft to the IDF, allowing them to serve with their peers. The program changed his life's course.

    Oren joined the Jewish National Fund as the Israeli Emissary in Northern California and moved with his family to Sunnyvale at the beginning of 2020.

    Attendance is free but requires pre-registration.
