    Community Conversations Presents in Concert: Italian Opera Favorites

    Enjoy a live afternoon concert of operatic favorites from the Italian repertoire. You will hear selections from Mozart to Verismo with a little Americana for fun! This concert will feature baritone Igor Vieira, mezzo soprano Deborah Martinez Rosengaus and pianist Jonathan Erman.

    Deborah Martínez Rosengaus is a versatile mezzo soprano having studied opera, theater, music and dance. She is known for her exciting, high energy performances and for creating memorable and endearing characters. With a uniquely flexible voice, as comfortable in Verdi as it is in Rossini, she has delighted audiences around the world with her rich timbre and sparkling coloratura.

    Deborah has toured internationally, with a variety of musical ensembles in concert halls such as: Santori Hall in Tokyo, The Center for Performing Arts in Beijing with the Peoples Liberation Army Orchestra, Disney Hall with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.

    In the summer of 2008, she created the role of Principessa Louling under the baton of Bruno Riggacci in the world premier of his one-act opera Dodici personaggi in cerca di voce. She has recieved critical acclaim for her interpretation of Jo in Mark Adamo's Little Women and was nominated for a Theater Bay Area Award for the role of Ruth in Pirates of Penzance.

    Baritone Igor Vieira was chosen by popular vote as Best Singer of the 2019 Season by the San Francisco Classical Voice. He is hailed by Opera News Magazine as "superb" and "show-stealing," and as a "triumph" by the San Francisco Chronicle. Igor made his professional debut in his native Rio de Janeiro at age 17 singing the role of Dancaïre in Bizet's Carmen.

    Igor has professionally performed 104 different operatic roles ranging from the baroque to world premiers. In 2010, he had the honor of making his San Francisco Opera debut in the role of Happy in Puccini's La Fanciulla del West. In the fall of 2011, he was invited back to that stage in the role of Gubetta in Donizetti's Lucrezia Borgia with Renee Fleming in the title role. This production was later released on DVD by the Euroarts Label to critical acclaim.

    Jonathan Erman is a pianist, composer and conductor. He accompanies regularly for theater groups throughout the Bay Area, including TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, West Bay Opera, and Foothill Music Theatre. His work encompasses musicals, operetta, opera and orchestral music. He has taken part in conducting workshops throughout the country, and his piece "Take Flight Anyway" was performed by flutist Sara Andon as part of the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive's 2020 New Music Project.
