    Chinese Instrumental Ensemble

    Afternoon Lecture Recital for Community Tuesdays

    When: Tuesday, 4/9/2019 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM Export event

    Where: Freidenrich Conference Center, Room F-401

    This program will introduce the audience to Chinese traditional musical instruments. The musicians will explore Chinese instrumental music mixed with Western instruments. 

    Musicians and instruments:

    Anita Tran—琵琶 (Pipa) 
    Winnie Chen—Chinese Koto
    Elyssia Tingley—Chinese Koto
    Vicki Li—Percussion
    Philip Chao—Electric Bass
    Andy Tran—Electric Guitar

    Anita Tran is a famous Chinese instrumentalist who plays Pipa, Guzheng and Erhu. She has been teaching Chinese instrumental music for over 16 years at Berryessa Chinese School. She also teaches at Exploring Music and Ale's Art School. Her students have the opportunity to perform with her on stage at many concerts and musical events.

    4) 採茶撲蝶—Harvesting Tea Leaves, Catching Butterflies—describes the happiness of working on harvesting and having fun catching the butterflies
    5) 金蛇狂舞—Golden Snake Dance
    6) 菊花台—Chrysanthemlum Pagoda
    7) Red River Valley
    8) 剪羊毛—Shearing the Wool—describes the work and fun of shearing the wool
    9) 將軍令—Military General's Order—an ancient tune that describes the majesty of the military generals and the tension on the trenches

    The OFJCC provides door-to-door rides for mobility-impaired seniors to all Community Tuesday lectures and concerts. The price is $10 for a round trip.
