    When: Tuesday, 11/26/2019 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Where: Albert and Janet Schultz Cultural Arts Hall (Bldg F)

    OFJCC Palo Alto JCC

Join author Rina Z. Neiman for a reading and visual presentation of her debut novel, Born Under Fire

Based on historical documents and events, Born Under Fire tells the story of Shula, a child prodigy pianist, who grows up in British Mandate Palestine as war erupts throughout the world. Based on the life of Neiman's mother, the novel brings to life the birth of the State of Israel, as well as the horrors and dangers of growing up in a conflict zone, through the eyes of one courageous woman. Artifacts from the author’s collection, including one-of-a-kind Yemenite and early Israeli dresses, will be on display at the event.

Rina Neiman is a writer, event producer and public relations professional. Born Under Fire is based on the true story of her mother, Shulamit Dubno Neiman, a Sabra, musician and one of the first generation of modern-day Israelis. Rina lives in Marin County with her husband and son. This is her first novel.

Daytime Adult Learning and Culture Programs are made possible in part by the John R. Schwabacher Family as well as a grant from the Maimonides Fund at the Jewish Community Federation & Endowment Fund of San Francisco, The Peninsula, Marin, Sonoma and the East Bay.
