    Beged Kefet Hebrew Language School: Registration Guidelines

    Registration for the 2020–2021 school year is ongoing, with an option to pay only a deposit to hold a spot in next year's classes!

       

    Welcome to Beged Kefet 2020–2021 School Year Registration

    Please note:

    The 2020–2021 classes will open based on the latest guidelines from CDC and the school districts regarding social distancing. Accordingly, we will offer lessons in either classrooms of no more than ten students, in virtual classes or in a combination of online and in-person lessons.

    We added a new payment option for our families: you can pay only a deposit today and start paying the tuition during the summer. All details below. 

    At Beged Kefet Hebrew Language School, we offer afterschool Hebrew classes from kindergarten through high school at different satellite campuses: Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Los Gatos and Foster City. We have different classes at each location and each class is capped. If a class is filled to capacity, your child will automatically be placed on a waitlist. We will open more classes based on demand.

    Our staff has been preparing for an online program scenario, working on developing an online curriculum per grade level. We have been working with specialists, participating in webinars and adopting a new digital teaching methodology. In addition, we are planning a supplemental communal program with in-person meetings, holiday celebrations, Israeli games and movies, events and much more.

    We are very excited to open the registration for the 2020–2021 school year and happy you have chosen to be part of our Beged Kefet community. You are invited to browse our website to find more information about the school, classes, our teaching staff and the schedule at each of our campuses.

    We aim for 33 classes each academic year. In the case that there are fewer than 33 classes—due to federal or Jewish holidays—we will schedule 'make-up' sessions that will be part of our planned curriculum (for more information about schedule and holidays, visit the Campuses page).

    School begins the week of August 31, 2020. Classes taking place on Mondays will start on August 17, 2020 with two make-up classes.

    Below you will find the required steps for registering your child(ren) in Hebrew classes at the different Beged Kefet campuses.

    Step One: Class(es) Selection

    • Press the 'Registration' button above in order to access the registration page.
    • On the left hand side of the registration page, press the 'Location' filter. Choose 'California' and the desired campus.
    • Select the relevant grade under the 'Session Type' option. Please consider your child's school grade, Hebrew learning background and preferred day and time while making your selection.
    • Press 'ADD' in order to confirm your class. The relevant class will be shown under 'YOUR SELECTION' box on the right.
    • You may register other children at this point. Choose the relevant classes and add them to 'YOUR SELECTION'.
    • Press on the 'Continue' button to move to the next step.

    Please note: If your child is new to Beged Kefet, select the grade that you think is appropriate for your child. If you do not know what Hebrew grade is appropriate, please select 'unsure'. New students, middle school and high school students are placed in the appropriate grade after Beged Kefet evaluation (by phone or in-person meeting), which will take place after registration. There is no need for kindergarten evaluation. For returning students, you will be notified by the Beged Kefet administrator about your placement which will be determined based on input from your child's last teacher.

    Step Two: LOOKUP ACCOUNT

    If you have an existing account (i.e., from last year or if you already registered for one of the OFJCC programs), please enter your email and password.

    In order to create a new account, enter your email and conclude your registration. At the end of the process you will be asked to create an account. 


    Step Three: PARTICIPANTS AND OPTIONS
    For each child please follow the prompts and fill/select/check all fields.

    Step Four: REGISTRATION FORMS

    We also welcome donations of any amount. Your support is greatly appreciated. 

    Step Five: PRIMARY PARENT/GUARDIAN
    For each child please follow the prompts and fill/select/check all fields.

    It is recommended that you include contact details of both parents by choosing the 'Add Second Parent' option. Please also fill in the contact details of any other person who has your permission to pick up your child as well as your emergency contact. 


    Step Six: REVIEW CART AND CHECKOUT
    Now you will be able to review your order. You can still add children by clicking the 'Add Another Registration' button.

    The fees per class are calculated as follows:

    • Sibling discount: For families registering more than one child to Beged Kefet, a discount of 5% per child after the second child is automatically applied to your cart (first child pays full registration fees for the whole family).
    • Early bird registration ends June 20. The discount of $130 for elementary students, $100 for middle school students and $170 for high school will be automatically applied to your cart.
    • Late registration starts on August 6. An additional fee of $70 for elementary students, $60 for middle school students and $120 for high school will be automatically applied to your cart.
    • Please note: registration for preparation for the Hebrew SAT subject test will be held separately starting February 2020 and will have separate tuition.


    Step Seven: CHECKOUT
    To complete registration we need to receive your payment. There are a couple of payment options:

    • New payment option in light of the current shelter in place and for parents' convenience: Paying only the deposit of $50 registration fee and $80 materials fee. Payment for tuition can be done later on in the summer, in one full payment or in two or three installments in July, October, December. 
    • Pay in full now
    • Pay in 2 installments (50% tuition plus fees and books at registration and 50% tuition in December 2020)
    • Pay in 3 installments (33% tuition plus fees and books at registration, 33% in September 2020 and the final 33% in December 2020)

    Cancellation Policy

    All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected] (Los Gatos Campus - please email [email protected]). Include the student's full name, class and detailed explanation as to the reason for the cancellation. Verbal or telephone withdrawal requests will not be honored. Cancellation by the end of June will include reimbursement of the amount paid without the $50 registration fee that will not be paid back. Cancellation by the beginning of July will include reimbursement of the amount paid without the $50 registration fee and the $80 materials fee  that will not be paid back.

    Starting on August 1st, the usual cancellation policy will take effect:

    Withdrawal from Beged Kefet can only happen during the first three months of the school year and no later than November 30. All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected] (Los Gatos Campus - please email [email protected]). Include the student's full name, class and detailed explanation as to the reason for the cancellation. Verbal or telephone withdrawal requests will not be honored. The official recognized withdrawal date will be the end of the month during which the written notification is received. The tuition will be prorated to reflect the months during which the student attended classes. The registration fee and cost of books will not be refunded. Beged Kefet Hebrew Language School reserves the right to update these policies at any time.

    Until payment is confirmed, your child is not registered. 

    After we have received your payment, you will receive a registration confirmation email. This email will confirm the students that you have registered.

    Almost Done 

    If you are a new user, you will be asked to create an account using your email as your username.
    An account is required in order to conclude registration.

    One important note for AFTER registration:

    • If you decide to add another child after you finish registration, please log into your account and add the child following the prompts. The discount for the additional child will automatically be applied.
