Rambam's Ladder Award Dinner & Auction
|
| |
Thank you for joining us for the 2010 Rambam's Ladder Award Dinner and Auction this past Sunday. We were excited to be 'Home at Last,' holding this annual event for the first time at the Oshman Family JCC on the Taube Koret Campus for Jewish Life.
The sense of purpose, camaraderie and generosity that people experienced during the course of the evening are testament to the strength of the South Peninsula Jewish community. It was a privilege to honor the extraordinary leadership of Richard Goldman, who has blazed a trail in Jewish philanthropy and has provided an example for us all to follow. Inspired by the Goldman family, we set new records for revenues raised through the event this year.
The total revenues of the event, including the Fund-A-Need Scholarship bids, were $477,000, an increase of $153,000 over last year! In addition to scholarships dedicated to families in need, the funds raised will support the Oshman Family JCC's many new programs and services this year.
We thank all of you for your generous contributions. We are proud to be part of a community that is dedicated to continuously renewing itself.
We hope to see you again soon at the Oshman Family JCC as you participate in the many new cultural, social, educational, health and wellness opportunities that abound in our new home.
Sincerely,

Orli and Zack Rinat 2010 Rambam's Ladder Award Dinner and Auction Co-chairs

| About Rambam's Ladder 2010 |
| |
|
Rambam's
Ladder Award Dinner & Auction is the OFJCC's major annual fundraiser, which raises essential funds for JCC programs and
scholarships. The award is named for Rabbi Moses Ben-Maimon (known as
Rambam) and honors individuals who, through their words and deeds,
exemplify tzedakah and righteous giving. In addition to the Rambam’s
Ladder Award presentation, the evening’s live and silent auctions
offers the exciting opportunity to bid on amazing gifts and services.
This year, the OFJCC recognized Mr. Richard N. Goldman. Mr. Goldman's lifelong good works are reflected throughout the Taube Koret Campus, the Bay Area, Israel and the world. Since 1951, the Richard & Rhoda Goldman Fund, established with his late wife Rhoda Haas Goldman (z"l), has distributed more than $615 million to numerous nonprofit causes including deep engagement with national, Israeli and local environmental organizations.
One of the Bay Area's most prominent donors, Mr. Goldman has contributed more than $30 million to the San Francisco Jewish Community Federation and more than $100 million to Jewish organizations across the U.S. He has received numerous civic honors and awards, including the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship, the Teddy Kollek Award from the Jerusalem Foundation and the Heinz Award.

At the Oshman Family JCC, Mr. Goldman stepped forward with principal gifts to name the Goldman Sports & Wellness Complex, the Goldman Fitness Center and the Goldman Center for Adult Living & Learning.
We celebrated Mr. Goldman's accomplishments and enjoyed an evening of festivities at our March 14 award dinner and auction.
Past recipients include Carol and Harry Saal (2009), Jim Koshland (2008) and Donna Dubinsky and Len Shustek (2007).
