Controller
The OFJCC seeks an experienced, multi-tasking and hands-on Controller. This role requires a superior attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, great organizational/management skills and the ability to juggle multiple high-priority requests. This senior role works effectively across functional groups and is able to drive continual process improvements both within and outside of their direct span of control. The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for recommending and administering all policies and procedures relating to accounting, financial reporting, tax, internal controls and financial systems. He/she insures that strong internal controls and effective transaction processing routines protect the assets of the agency and result in meaningful, timely and accurate financial reporting. The Controller oversees the accounting, accounts payable, billing operations and payroll functions.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Manage financial operations of the JCC including cash flow, banking, bank reconciliations, insurance, accounting, billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, investments and other related systems
• Streamline, simplify and automate systems and processes where and when appropriate
• Effectively delegate work to staff, ensuring assignments reflect the priorities of both the agency and the Finance Department
• Work with Senior Management on budgeting, forecasting and planning and provide analysis of financial results
• Manage the preparation for the annual audit and coordinate with staff and independent auditors
• Maintain an internal control system to ensure that all processes and procedures are documented and consistently followed.
• Be responsible for monthly and year-end closes in accordance with GAAP and for drafting consolidated financial statements
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all general ledger activity
• Assist in the identification and implementation of systems to optimize the efficiency of the accounting and payroll activities
• Work with the Development Department to ensure that all possible grants and donations are applied for and accounted for properly
• Coordinate compliance activities including, but not limited to the IRS, Franchise Tax Board, and insurance companies
• Supervise preparation of quarterly and annual tax filings
• Ensure that all department managers are well trained on JCC’s accounting and reporting procedures
• Work with other departments to ensure proper coordination and overall success of the OFJCC and participate in agency-wide activities and programs
• Other related duties as required or directed

Qualifications:
• CPA required; previous experience
• 5-7 years experience with some portion in the non-profit sector preferred; including previous experience as a Controller
• Thorough knowledge of Fund Accounting concepts, techniques and principles
• Working knowledge of MIP by Sage and Spectrum by CSI, Host Analytis (Hyperion) a plus
• Excellent Excel skills
• Experience with project-based accounting and principles a plus
• Outstanding analyst and problem-solving abilities

Teen-Program Manager
Reports to:  Director of Youth and Teens
General Function:
The Teen Program Manager, under the direction of the Program Director of Youth and Teens will ensure that the Teen Program prevails as a resource of opportunities and experiences. This individual will continually shape the program to meet the emerging needs and interests of local Teens.
Work Schedule:
This is a full time position that will require some evening and weekend work.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a full array of enriching teen programs consistent with the OFJCC’s mission and goals; balancing recreational and educational experiences as determined by participant interest
• Develop Teen Program to act as a leading resource for community service opportunities
• Consistently manage, design and implement outreach efforts such as creating promotional strategies, identifying and cultivating relationships with individuals and organizations to bring teens to our programs
• Facilitate the growth of Teen Advisory Committees, allowing the groups to develop programming and make critical decisions relevant to the activities of the Teen Program
• Attend, oversee logistics for teen events
• Coordinate the participation of teens in center wide festivals, holiday celebrations, and events
• Coordinate the agency’s involvement in community events for teenagers
• Foster collaboration with Jewish Community Federation, Jewish Teen Alliance, Bureau of Jewish Education and other teen serving organizations
• Advocate for the OFJCC’s Teen program within the Jewish community
• Anticipate and be responsive to member/participant needs and requests

• Ensure effective administrative systems are in place to support departmental programs, including mechanisms for tracking participation and demographics; providing reports to Program Director as requested

Qualifications:
• Previous experience working with Jewish youth, preferably in a JCC setting
• Strong background in Jewish programming or Jewish education
• Previous experience in program development
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

• Ability to transmit Jewish culture and ideas to youth from diverse Jewish backgrounds
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a broad spectrum of staff, volunteers, and program participants

Youth & Camp Program Associate
Reports to:  Director of Youth and Teens
Position Description: The Youth & Camp Program Associate will provide oversight of and be responsible for the administrative and programmatic delivery of all non-sports related JCC Afternoon Enrichment Classes. This individual will ensure that a diverse range of quality experiences be offered and that the program will be managed and promoted in a manner conducive to maximum enrollment. Additionally, the Youth and Camp Program Associate wills support the Camp Program by running Mini-Camps, assisting with  year-round summer planning and coordinating the implementation of summer programming.
Primary Responsibilities:
JCC Afternoons
  • Coordinate, plan, promote and implement all non-sport afternoon enrichment sessions.
  • Set up, monitor and maintain registrations throughout each session, communicating clearly with each parent about their status
  • Track attendance figures and enforce attendance policies
  • Interview, hire and train vendors in order to ensure the safety of the children and quality of programmatic implementation
  • Submit yearly budget to Program Director and monitor spending accordingly; provide updates as appropriate
  • Write contracts for vendors and submit appropriate forms to accounting to ensure timely payments
  • Book classrooms and ensure proper set up relative to class needs
  • Order supplies in advance and as requested by vendors/teaching staff
  • Track attendance and enforce attendance policies
  • Coordinate and communicate positively with Club J Manager and appropriate Sports and Rec personnel in order to ensure smooth transitions between programs and a user friendly experience for customers

  • Monitor counselor interaction with campers and assist with camper behavior management as needed
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate all Camp Counselor Staff in daily operation
  • Be responsible for opening/closing Mini Camp
  • Adhere to weekly J-camp expense limits and be responsible for petty cash
  • Support Camp Director with various summer planning tasks
  • Relate to campers in a positive manner, maintain camper supervision, and discipline
  • Adhere to pre-planned day camp operating calendar and schedules
  • Assist in inventory and maintenance of camp supplies/equipment
  • Maintain good public relations and communication with day camp parents when needed
  • Ensure J-Camp operates in a safe manor at all times by following all OFJCC J-Camp policies
  • Complete required weekly paperwork and reports
  • Enforces camp procedures and policies according to OFJCC policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and support of the Oshman Family JCC Mission and Youth & Camp Department Goals.
  • At least 1 year of experience administering and supervising programs for children
  • At least 3 years of direct experience working with children in an organized program
  • Must have fingerprints and child abuse index check on file within 3 days of employment
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Certified in Pediatric & Adult CPR with AED & Basic First Aid
  • Experience in the following computer programs: Microsoft Word, Excel and Power-Point.
  • Ability to adjust tasks in accordance with changing priorities.

Afterschool Teacher
Reports to:  Club-J Manager
Position Summary:
  • Supervise school age students within the JCC’s after school Club J program.
  • Participate in planning and implementing the Club J schedule for individuals and groups of students
  • Provide a loving, nurturing and safe environment for all of the children, families and staff involved with the Club J program.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Create and implement individual and group activities for school-aged children
  • Design interest areas to provide choices, opportunities for safe risks, and challenge children to interact, learn, create and thrive while corresponding with the developmental and individual needs of each child
  • Pick children up in JCC vans from various schools and safely transport them to Club J
  • Act as a role model and provide guidance for children, families and staff
  • Engage with all children in a supportive and positive way
  • Maintain accurate update of records to include, but not limited to: enrollment, attendance, communication logs, curriculum, child observation and parent participation
  • Implement monthly fire drills, earthquake drills and annual disaster drills
  • Learn about, respect and support the individual uniqueness (personality, physical characteristics and traits, culture, language and ethnic characteristics, family structure, developmental needs and behaviors) of each child and meet them at their point of need
  • Engage with children directly to support extension of their play and to provide learning experiences

  • Minimum of six months experience working in an organized youth program
  • A valid and appropriate California Driver License and a safe driving record which meets the OFJCC insurance requirements
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities and move quickly from one project to another while maintaining overall perspective
  • Knowledge of Jewish history, culture, and practice a plus
  • Pediatric CPR & Basic First Aid certification
  • Proven ability to translate broad goals and strategies into programs and activities

Special Events Coordinator
Reports to: Special Events Manager
Work schedule: Must be available to work weekend and evening hours as necessary
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Create and actively promote a comfortable and welcoming environment where every member/participant is treated with dignity and respect, in a friendly, personalized manner. 
  • Anticipate and be responsive to member/participant needs and requests
  • Ensure comprehensive execution of private and special events from pre-event consultation, on-site event participation, and post-event guest satisfaction follow up.
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing and invoicing to clients (through accounting)
  • Meet with meeting planners or convention officials during actual event, to ensure requirements are being executed in proper manner.
  • Effectively communicate to identify guest and participant needs and produce a prospectus for each function.
  • Consistently maintain professional rapport and confidentiality in communications with other departments as required by procedure (i.e., Security, Facilities, Accounting, Tech/AV)
  • Maintain strong relationships with outside clients and with the appropriate program staff
  • Responsible for the appropriate and timely set up of all functions and meetings while maintaining meeting specifications and customer service.

Chief Development Officer
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead the evolution and growth of the JCC’s financial development efforts
  • Design and implement a comprehensive strategy and development plan to increase our fundraising sophistication and revenue contribution
  • Ensure that fund development is carried out in keeping with the organization’s values, mission, vision, and strategic plan.
  • Guide, manage and participate in efforts to identify, cultivate, and solicit sources of gifts including private donations, major gifts, foundations, planned giving, corporate partnerships, etc.
  • Develop a close working relationship with the board ensuring they are active contributors and solicitors.
  • Encourage a “culture of philanthropy” throughout the organization
  • In coordination with the CEO and CFO create an annual budget that, in addition to expenses, outlines revenue/donations from various sources and specific fundraising goals for all members of the Development Department
  • Evaluate current processes and systems that support fundraising initiatives, donor recognition, and campaign management
  • Work closely with the Marketing Department to write and produce the annual report and other stewardship and solicitation collateral material
  • Retain, recruit, and manage a team of development professionals and provide professional development and training required to cultivate staff skills.
  • Establish clear standards for stewardship and donor recognition
  • Undertake direct individual donor solicitations as appropriate
  • Manage and participate in all of the agency’s special events that are geared toward raising funds.
