Grunberg of the San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Opera, and Rabbi Yoshi Fenton, Associate Director of Jewish LearningWorks. The two will screen opera excerpts and explore their biblical significance.

The first meeting will explore Samson, the iconic Jewish hero and controversial monk figure from Samson and Delilah by Camille Saint-Saëns. This grand opera in three acts and four scenes is based on the Biblical tale of Samson and Delilah found in Chapter 16 of the Book of Judges in the Old Testament. It is the only opera by Saint-Saëns that is regularly performed. The second act love scene in Delilah's tent is one of the set pieces that define French opera.

Don't miss the next meeting discussing Nabucco, on Sunday, May 5.
