With Jaclyn Long, Yoga & Meditation Instructor and Marriage & Family Therapist |
|
You’re a great mom, but when was the last time you did something for yourself? Every mother needs a support system. And we all know we are better mothers when we take good care of ourselves and find ways to connect with each other. The Mind, Body & Spirit Group for Moms is an opportunity to nourish yourself with a gentle yoga practice. Beginners are welcome and encouraged. No previous yoga or meditation experience is necessary. Please bring a mat if you have one, and wear loose, comfortable clothing. Jackie is inspired by the rich overlap between Western psychology, Buddhist theory and yogic philosophy. She seamlessly incorporates psychological principles into each of her classes. Her classes focus on stress relief, relaxation, the development of mindfulness (non-judgmental, compassionate awareness) and the cultivation of metta (loving kindness). With her warm and nurturing voice, she creates a non-competitive atmosphere so students can move inward and connect with themselves and one another, and feel a part of the interconnected web of life. Jaclyn Long is a certified yoga and meditation teacher, a Marriage & Family Therapist, and a mom. After graduating from Princeton University with a degree in psychology and a specialization in neuroscience, Jackie Long was on a path to study the effects of yoga and meditation on the brain. She realized along the way, however, that practicing and teaching yoga fulfilled her much more than researching it. Stepping out of academia and onto the yoga mat has changed her life and she finds great inspiration from her own practice and from each of her students. Jaclyn graduated in 2004 with a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and a certificate in Creative Expression. |
