Meet the Composers
With opera singer Mete Tasin
Come learn all the fun and gory details of the lives of great opera composers, from the well known to the obscure. Learn of their accomplishments, frustrations, amours, and enjoy selections from their work.  This session will focus on the baroque, and you’ll enjoy learning about the operas and history of Claudio Monteverdi, Henry Purcell, Antonio Vivaldi , George Frederic Handel, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Alessandro Scarlatti.
 

About the teacher
our teacher is tenor Mete Tasin, who is one of the soloists at Opera San Jose, and has sung many leading roles, among them is Tybalt in Gounod's "Romeo et Juliette" with New York Lyric Opera Theatre, appearing at Carnegie Hall with the company as a resident artist.
Tenor Mete Tasin was born in Wurzburg, Germany. He did his undergraduate studies at Dokuz Eylul University State Conservatory and Istanbul University State Conservatory. He completed his Master studies at Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music.

Mr. Tasin has sung leading roles since his arrival in the United States, including Guillot in Massenet's "Manon", Romeo and more. With Sieur DuLuth Summer Festival in Minnesota, he sang the role of Don jose in Bizet's "Carmen" and Arturo in Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor".

Mr. Tasin has recently moved to the Bay Area to appear with Verismo opera as Don Jose in Bizet's "Carmen". Not only a talented singer, he also has a musical composition to his credit, "Ali Baba and 40 Thieves" and “Baldboy”, appearing in the work in a world premier in New York City.
Mr. Tasin currently working at Opera San Jose as a Soloist and Mr.Tasin is teaching voice at Bechtel I-Center in Stanford.
