Violins Meet Piano: Chamber Music with Alexander Barantschik, Era Lifschitz and Alona Tsoi
Three renowned local musicians will perform music by Beethoven, Ravel, Prokofiev and Shnitke.
 
Violinist Alexander Barantschik joined the San Francisco Symphony as Concertmaster in September 2001, having previously served as concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra (1989-2001) and the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra (1982-2001).

Born in Saint Petersburg in 1953, he attended the Saint Petersburg Conservatory and went on to perform with the major Russian orchestras before emigrating in 1979.

His many awards include first prizes in the International Violin Competition in Sion, Switzerland, and the Russian National Violin Competition.
 
Violinist Alona Tsoi was born in Tashkent, Soviet Union and attended the Moscow Special Music School and later the Moscow Conservatory. Her mentors were members of the Borodin Quartet, William Pleeth, Louis Krasner, and Alfred Schnittke. She has performed on tours throughout Russia, the United States, Italy, and Great Britain. Ms. Tsoi has been a First Violinist for the Orquesta del Principado de Asturias, Spain, the Netherlands Ballet Orchestra, and Radio Philharmonic Orchestra Netherlands.

Ms. Tsoi moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2001. She regularly performs chamber music with her husband violinist, Alexander Barantschik, and takes part in recording projects and concert tours with the San Francisco Symphony.
 
Pianist Era Lifschitz graced the stage of the OFJCC previously with Julian Milkis of New York and local cellist Eugene Lifschitz.
